SimonCRE is a full service commercial real estate developer founded in 2010 by Joshua Simon, with the goal to create a company that redefined the commercial real estate development industry. Joshua wanted to build a company that was unique, willing to adapt, and left a lasting impact on the communities it served.

Always moving. Always fearless. That’s Joshua Simon.

Joshua began his career in commercial real estate in 2004, and it wasn’t long before his headstrong attitude allowed him to forge ahead and start SimonCRE in 2010, during some of the toughest of economic times. As Founder and CEO, Joshua leads the company’s growth strategy while directing the daily operations. He carries the torch for a team committed to developing projects that benefit clients and the communities they serve. SimonCRE now develops retail properties all across the country totaling roughly $120 million a year. To date, the company has completed more than 120 projects in 18 states.

When Joshua isn’t in the office (which is rare), you’ll likely find him advocating for the CRE community. He applies his boundless energy towards supporting and giving back to the industry he loves. He’s served on a number of boards and routinely presents as an industry expert at conferences like ULI Deep Dive and ICSC Next Generation, as well as forums for AZRE and Bisnow, among others.

SimonCRE isn’t Joshua’s first foray into entrepreneurship either. He previously started a hosted VoIP company which he sold to a publicly traded company four years later.

Joe Acker joined SimonCRE in 2015 as General Counsel, where he provides a broad knowledge of real estate law and a tenacious, yet affable negotiation style that is appreciated by all parties in a transaction. Over the course of his career, Joe has built a reputation as an experienced and knowledgeable commercial real estate and corporate transactional attorney. He has been involved in more than $2 Billion worth of real estate transactions.

Joe's expertise encompasses all facets of commercial real estate law, including review and negotiation of purchase agreements and leases, due diligence for development projects, and coordination of pre and post-closing issues. He is also experienced in corporate transactions, including the purchase and sale of businesses, facilitation of corporate contracts, and the formation of corporations and limited liability companies.

His previous roles include serving as lead counsel for a national shopping center development firm, as well as practicing commercial real estate law with Arizona-based law firms Lewis and Roca, and Nagle Law Group.

Brent is a highly experienced construction manager with a strong background in development, remodeling, property management, IT infrastructures, facility management, and maintenance. He has worked with a portfolio of more than 225 Carl’s Jr., Hardee’s, and Pizza Patron restaurants throughout the Midwest and Southwest. Brent has managed projects for 75 ground-up and restaurant conversions, and more than 130 restaurant remodels. Brent oversees SimonCRE’s new construction projects, expansions, and remodels.

Brent recently graduated from RSI with an AA in Mechanical Maintenance Engineering and plans to continue his education at ASU. Brent’s most notable projects have been remodeling the Carl’s Jr, storefront at Talking Stick Resort Arena, overseeing the remodel of Peter Piper Pizza, and remodeling a number of Burger Kings in the Phoenix area.

Brent enjoys spending his free time with his wife Amy, daughter Krista, and son Kaleb. Brent is very proud of both of his children. Krista is a medic in the United States Air Force and Kaleb is an honor roll student in the 8th grade. He enjoys camping, coaching his son’s sports teams, riding his motorcycle, and almost any activity that gets him outdoors. He also enjoys donating his time to local projects and charity events.

Jared Atkisson joined SimonCRE in 2015 as Director of Construction, where his responsibilities include overseeing all of SimonCRE’s new construction projects, expansions, and remodels.

He has extensive experience in managing the planning, development, construction, remodel, property management, and maintenance of a large portfolio. Jared has worked on more than 225 Carl's Jr., Hardees, and Pizza Patron restaurants throughout the Midwest and Southwest. He has effectively managed the construction of more than 75 ground-up and restaurant conversions and has coordinated the interior and exterior remodels of more than 130 restaurants.

Jared’s most notable local projects include the Carl's Jr. located across the street from the University of Phoenix Stadium, and the remodel of the Carl’s Jr. and Phoenix Suns team shop, both located inside the Talking Stick Resort Arena.

Jared is a true family man who spends his free time with his wife and two young sons. He enjoys golfing, camping, coaching his son’s sports teams, trips to the beach, and almost any activity that gets him outdoors. He has donated time to Phoenix Children’s Hospital and enjoys participating in the annual Pat Tillman run.

Dan Biswas has been Vice President of Development with SimonCRE since 2013. Dan is responsible for project planning, budgeting, municipal submittal approvals, oversight and project management, and maintaining communication standards with tenants. 

His diverse background brings years of experience to the SimonCRE team in the form of construction/project management, sales, marketing, graphic design, and brand building/management, in addition to a wealth of knowledge in the realm of small business ownership and management.

Dan graduated from the University of Colorado, earning his bachelor’s degree with a double major in International Business/Marketing and a minor in Finance. After graduating he moved to the Phoenix Metro area and began his professional career in the construction industry. He started out as a Marketing Coordinator for one of the largest regional landscape construction companies. Over the course of his five years with the company, Dan quickly moved up the ranks to head up the Marketing and Sales Department. From there, he moved on in an entrepreneurial spirit to found his own company, where he headed up the organization as President and Principal until being recruited as SimonCRE’s first team member (outside of the family).

In his tenure at SimonCRE, he has developed well over half a million square feet of retail space and counting.

In his spare time, he is actively involved in the community, participating in the Active 2030 Club of Phoenix (Chapter #99) where he raises money for disadvantaged and underprivileged children in the Phoenix Metro Area. He is constantly volunteering his time to worthy causes and enjoys spending time mentoring teens through local volunteer organizations.

Jeff Carpenter joined SimonCRE in 2015 with a strong background in retail development, leasing, and finance. He specializes in single tenant build-to-suits, land assemblages, as well as shopping center and note acquisitions.  He brings a unique transaction history having worked with many national retailers on projects all over the country.

Prior to joining SimonCRE, Jeff spent six years at Sandor Development, leading its private equity arm, Sand Capital, in the sourcing, underwriting, and acquisition of non-performing notes and lender-owned commercial real estate.  He was instrumental in Sand Capital's success, building the investment team from the ground up and overseeing more than $200,000,000 in acquisitions through the investment of more than 60 assets totaling nearly 3,000,000 square feet in 15 states.  He was also intimately involved in the asset management of the portfolio, where he designed and executed plans that added value to the acquired investments through leasing and redevelopment projects.  He successfully negotiated leases on more than 200,000 square feet with many local, regional, and national tenants throughout the country.  Jeff was in a unique situation to be able to personally guide each of these investments through underwriting, acquisition, lease up, and in many cases, disposition and reinvestment.

Jeff began his career in commercial real estate at Phoenix Commercial Advisors, a commercial real estate brokerage and member of ChainLinks Retail Advisors.

Jeff was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and grew up in Tucson, Arizona.  He attended Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, where he graduated with honors earning his undergraduate degree in Finance from the W.P. Carey School of Business.  He is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Young Leaders Group.

Trish Clark joined SimonCRE as Construction Administrator in 2016. She is responsible for all activities related to project construction; including monitoring project schedules, file management, and coordinating with contractors and vendors. Trish enforces SimonCRE’s strategic approach to quality control by focusing on communications, monitoring and identifying potential schedule delays and budget overruns before they occur. Her ability to closely track a project and develop innovative ways to resolve issues will help ensure the successful completion of all projects.

Trish hails from the Great Lakes region of Ohio and left to venture out west in 1980 when she visited Phoenix and has remained here since. Trish brings with her years of experience in multitasking, coordinating and assisting with unique projects. Construction and real estate are familiar to Trish as her father and uncles owned and operated a large construction company, as well as a successful real estate business. 

Trish was raised in a family of health and sports activists so she developed her passion for health and fitness at an early age. Trish took a special interest in yoga while accompanying her father to the YMCA where he taught classes and served as lifeguard. She obtained her yoga teaching certificate and has taught many classes over the years. Yoga has remained a lifelong practice for Trish.

Blake M. Curtis serves as the Director of Capital Markets & Dispositions at SimonCRE. His responsibilities include developing relationships with equity partners and financial institutions, as well as managing SimonCRE’s pipeline of assets.

Prior to joining SimonCRE, Blake served as Senior Analyst at VEREIT, Inc. (formerly known as Cole Real Estate Investments) one of world’s largest net lease REITs. He focused on reporting to the Chief Investment Officer while effectively managing a diversified portfolio of single tenant properties for both VEREIT’s non-traded funds and balance sheet. During his tenure at the firm, Blake led the disposition of 85 individual retail, restaurant, and industrial transactions totaling $285 million, equating to over 100 million square feet. Additionally, he played an integral role in the origination of $495 million in retail acquisitions for VEREIT totaling 1.2 million square feet.

Blake holds a BA in Business Law from The W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. He is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Young Leaders in Real Estate Group.

Joey Fulgenzi joined SimonCRE in 2017 as Office Coordinator. She is responsible for typical day-to-day office tasks including; mailings, filing, and ordering supplies. She will also be assisting in lien waiver tracking and follow-up.

Joey is originally from Cleveland, Ohio and holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Cleveland State University. While in Cleveland, Joey held positions in event planning and management but relocated to Phoenix in 2013 for an executive assistant role. She has remained in administration and office management ever since. Her role at SimonCRE taps back into her event management background as she also handles team and client events.

In her free time, Joey has always been a health and fitness fanatic. She owned a Jazzercise franchise for ten years in Ohio and is presently a spinning instructor in Scottsdale with Mad Dogg Athletics.

Austin Gottsacker started with SimonCRE in 2015 as a Development Associate, and in January 2017 was named Acquisition & Leasing Manager. Austin works closely with the development team by performing due diligence as it pertains to site selections across the country for SimonCRE’s national clients. He prepares and negotiates contracts, researches market data and site data, investigates fees and permits, and other research that will greatly assist our development teams in the accurate execution of project timelines.

Prior to SimonCRE, he worked with the Russell Shaw Group negotiating contracts, coordinating signings, and helping manage more than 75 active listings. He also worked with Goddes Homes, a residential real estate firm where he was a real estate agent working with clients to show homes, negotiate contracts, and advise his clients through the home buying process.

Austin is currently a junior at ASU’s W.P. Carey School of Business, pursuing a major in Finance and a minor in Real Estate. He is a member of the ASU Real Estate Club, the Investment Banking Industry Scholars program, and on the Dean’s List. He also holds an Arizona Real Estate License.

Brent Halles joined SimonCRE in 2018 as a Development Associate. He works closely with the executive team researching new site acquisitions across the country. Brent’s previous sales and leadership experience make him a great addition to the SimonCRE team.

Brent is currently a sophomore at W.P. Carey, the business school of Arizona State University where he is studying Marketing (Professional Sales). Prior to joining SimonCRE, Brent worked on campus as a Peer Admission Representative.

Brent is an active member of Lambda Chi Alpha and various organizations at ASU such as Autism Speaks. He enjoys being active and socializing with family and friends. He is excited to see where the future takes him with commercial real estate.

Kelly Hardin joined SimonCRE in 2017 as Executive Assistant to the CEO. She’s responsible for administrative support, overseeing executive priorities and calendar management, coordinating travel arrangements, scheduling and organization of meetings and special events.

Kelly brings with her 18 years of exceptional organizational and managerial experience from her previous role as Director of Operations for Magellen Properties in Elmhurst, Illinois. With Magellen, she was responsible for overseeing five residential real estate properties, including determining capital needed for improvement projects, managing logistical regulations, and developing and implementing annual budgets for all properties.

She also managed accounting procedures, maintained property analysis information, gathered and recorded supporting data, directed a maintenance team and property manager while maintaining personnel records, amongst numerous other responsibilities.

In her spare time, Kelly is a fitness fanatic. Before moving to Arizona, she worked as a spinning instructor for nearly 3 years at XSport Fitness and 5 Seasons Country Club in Illinois.

Roxanne Knight is the Transaction Manager for SimonCRE. In this role, Roxanne works as part of the SimonCRE legal team and is responsible for handling all aspects of property closings for the firm, including both purchases and sales. The SimonCRE legal team supports the firm by preparing and reviewing documents and is on hand to respond to any legal question or situation.

Before joining SimonCRE, Roxanne worked for an international law firm specializing in complex transactions. She was also a project manager at a well-known, local commercial real estate development company for more than ten years, and before that worked in the banking industry, spending time in several different areas of lending, including the commercial real estate loan division.

Roxanne is completing a paralegal studies course and will soon be a Certified Paralegal.

Peter Krahenbuhl started at SimonCRE in 2015 as a Project Manager and is now Vice President of Development. Peter works closely with the CEO to track project timelines, obtain entitlements, oversee planning submittals, and ensure adherence to project budgets. He plays a vital role in the daily planning and development associated with successfully driving multiple projects from inception to completion.

Originally from Princeton, New Jersey, Peter moved to Arizona in 1999 for college at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. He majored in Business Management with a minor in Finance. During college, Peter worked for five years at the prestigious Forest Highlands Golf Club as a Safety Representative responsible for the safety and security of members, guests, and assets within the gated community.

After graduating in 2004, Peter moved to Scottsdale to begin work for Toronto-based condominium conversion and multi-family investment company, Belleview Communities. At Belleview for six years, Peter was responsible for the sales, marketing, construction implementation and, strategic planning of seven multi-family condominium developments in Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Flagstaff totaling more than $100 million in sales revenue.

In 2012, Peter became a Commercial Tenant Advisor for Avocat Group, a boutique tenant representation firm specializing in office, medical, dental, and law firm client’s commercial real estate needs. Peter was responsible for facilities acquisitions, site selections, space planning, lease/purchase negotiations and comparative building analysis for more than 50 clients throughout the country.

Peter is a founding Suns Charities 88 member and volunteers his time with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona and Valley Leadership. Peter’s hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, camping, traveling and spending time with his wife Sarah and son Bodhi.

David Newton joined SimonCRE in June 2018 as Director of Development. David is responsible for overseeing the Development Department, including the development and construction process from a project feasibility, budgetary, entitlement, and design perspective throughout the entire development phase.

David completed his civil and structural engineering apprenticeship while working for a residential and commercial developer consultancy in 1990. He then moved on to become a freelance civil engineering designer and project manager in 2000. He later transitioned into the world of commercial real estate development and has significant experience in the retail development sector.

David was born in the United Kingdom, educated in Glasgow, Scotland. He moved to the United States in January 2001 and has never looked back.

In David’s spare time he likes to follow soccer and travel domestically and across the world with family and friends.

Debbie Noble currently manages SimonCRE accounting duties involving the purchase and sale of properties, as well as preparation, review, and analyzing company financial information. She works directly in collaboration with the controller on special projects and management of owned properties in the SimonCRE portfolio.

Debbie has more than 30 years of experience as a CPA, having worked with small and medium size companies in financial and tax accounting. She has worked with companies in a variety of industries across the Valley, particularly in real estate, construction, and medical.

She moved to Arizona from Long Island in 1977 after graduating from Hofstra University with a BBA in Accounting. Debbie worked at a large local firm for several years and later opened a small practice that allowed her to maintain better work-life balance.

She has volunteered as an adoption representative for a no-kill animal shelter and currently knits for an organization called The Ships Project, which makes hats and slippers that are sent to sailors deployed aboard US ships around the world. Debbie enjoys traveling, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Jennifer Polansky joined SimonCRE in February 2016 and brings more than 13 years of experience in lease analysis and property management. As Lease Administrator, Jennifer is responsible for administering leases for approximately 600,000 square feet of retail space located in eight states from Florida to California.

In addition to drafting lease documents, Jennifer works closely with the company’s Legal Department to assist with the execution of new leases, lease amendments, and lease renewals. Furthermore, Jennifer coordinates with the Construction Department to ensure utilities are available to company-owned properties and tracks progress throughout the construction process. Jennifer will continue to help the company efficiently manage its growing portfolio by creating and implementing lease administration procedures that will allow for a seamless transition through the entire life cycle of a project.

Jennifer brings a wealth of knowledge and experience having held multiple positions at PetSmart, Inc. starting as Assistant Property Manager and working her way to Senior Lease Analyst. She was responsible for the financial management of Institutional/REIT portfolios of approximately 160 stores and $60 million in variable expenses.

Jennifer recently moved back to the Valley of the Sun after spending nearly 8 years in Florida. When she is not at work she enjoys spending her free time with her friends and family. She especially enjoys cheering on her two beautiful daughters in gymnastics, encouraging their love of reading with frequent trips to the library, and having them assist her with baking delicious treats. She also loves cuddling up with her two cats, who she rescued from the Humane Society.

Nikki Simon works as Controller for SimonCRE handling all of the day to day financial aspects of the company’s assets. This includes managing the relationships associated with each entity and project. She also acts as office manager, handling all aspects of keeping the office running smoothly.

Originally from Chicago, Nikki moved to Phoenix in 1997 with her family to escape the harsh winters. Early in her career she worked for various attorneys, a worldwide executive recruiting firm and ran a successful in home personal training business. Nikki’s vast experience working within large Chicago-based companies and running her own business honed her leadership, organizational, financial and communication skills early on which made the transition into real estate a smooth one.

Andrew Veatch joined SimonCRE in 2017 and serves as Development Manager. Andrew is responsible for project management, entitlements, municipal submittals/ approvals, project budgeting, and consultant communication. He plays a vital role in the daily planning and development associated with successfully driving multiple projects from inception to completion.

Prior to joining SimonCRE, Andrew worked as a Leasing Intern at NAI Horizon in Phoenix, before being promoted to Leasing and Sales Advisor. During his time at NAI Horizon, Andrew specialized in the representation of landlords and tenants in the leasing and sales of office and multi-use properties.

Andrew graduated from The University of Arizona’s Eller School of Management, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship and Operations Management. Additionally, he is an active member of the DCREP (Developing Commercial Real Estate Professionals). In his spare time, you will more than likely find Andrew exploring the outdoors or finding the next best place to eat.

Elena Wall joined SimonCRE in 2016 as the Director of Marketing. She is responsible for the planning, development, and initiation of the company’s marketing strategies. In addition, she will focus on content creation, public relations, and overall brand development.

Elena brings more than seven years of experience and knowledge in all aspects of marketing, including five years of commercial real estate experience. Prior to joining SimonCRE she was the Marketing Manager at a mid-size brokerage firm where she oversaw the marketing team while working with agents, staff, and clients to provide effective marketing concepts and collateral. Throughout her career, she has focused on creating comprehensive marketing campaigns, strategies, and solutions to increase revenue, promote brand awareness, and drive business growth.

Originally from Chicago, Elena moved to Phoenix in 2006 and attended the Art Institute of Phoenix where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising. In her free time, she loves traveling, spending her days at the lake, and enjoying quality time with her husband and their dog-named Gringo.

Evan Willee joined SimonCRE in 2016 and serves as the Marketing Coordinator. He’s responsible for helping with the company’s marketing strategy, including content creation, marketing automation, and maintaining the company’s CRM.

Evan has been involved in construction and commercial real estate marketing for more than four years. He’s worked with project managers, brokers, staff, and clients to produce thorough and effective marketing collateral. Evan has previously managed and maintained the marketing materials for an extensive portfolio of properties. His background in writing and design has allowed him to handle a wide array of responsibilities when working on marketing campaigns and strategies.

Hailing from Toledo, Ohio, Evan moved to Phoenix in Spring 2012 with his wife Charlotte. While in Ohio, Evan graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism, and from Owens Community College with an Associate of Applied Science in Commercial Art. In his spare time, Evan enjoys sports, exploring local restaurants and all that Phoenix has to offer, the great outdoors, binge watching TV, and staying busy around the house.
